Reading while riding in NYC

There are a number of organizations out there with similar goals, but it always makes me happy to hear (read) about people finding ways to share books.

  1. Canadian director Ron Mann is distributing his documentary Know Your Mushrooms on a customized USB stick (among other ways). This could be an interesting way to distribute books also. Read the comments with the linked article for arguments about whether USB sticks are more or less green than CDs.

  2. Ron Miller, staff writer at DANIWEB, blogs about Sony's announcement last week that it was going to be using the open ePub eBook standard, which in theory should enable Sony Reader users to access and use any books created around the standard. Sony Readers will also be able to read Adobe PDFs and Adobe eBooks, both of which come with Adobe DRM.
